We cannot be perfect, but we strive to get as close as we can.
I took part in a Vane Sailing event recently and as anyone who has done any vane sailing will know, you strive to set your boat up perfectly before setting it off, but you rarely achieve perfection.
Some attempts are worse than others but just occasionally you can stand back with your arms folded, enjoying the spectacle of your boat sailing itself up the lake just perfectly—until you suddenly realise that it is heading towards the bank and you have to set off at pace to get to it before it crashes into the lake wall.
This of course accompanied by huffing and puffing and waving of your pole as you try to stop your trousers from falling down while running along at a blistering crawl.
It's a sport that combines precision, patience and a good sense of humour, as the unpredictability keeps even the most experienced sailors on their toes. The camaraderie amongst participants, and the shared laughter over mishaps, are part of what makes vane sailing such an enjoyable pastime.
At other times you are rewarded for your work with great reviews like this one we recently received from a very happy customer who purchased one of our Start Boxes:
We (at Rotherham Model Yacht Club) are very pleased with the Cat Components race starter!
The sound is better from the unit itself than when we connected the large horn speaker that we have always used previously, so the speaker is currently redundant but the stand is useful. I suspect the overall volume is at least as good as our previous set-up and probably adequate for a club open meeting.
We will be recommending the starter when appropriate and indeed already have at another of our sailing venues, which generated a bit of WhatsApp traffic.
Thank you for your very keen attention throughout the buying process. Your customer service is top class.
We strive to match our products with high levels of service, whether that is pre or post sale and we are extremely happy that this is apparent.
On the flip side, we sometimes get it wrong.
Recently we had it reported to us that one of our 3D printed parts had failed. This was very disappointing to us, and we set out to understand what may have caused the failure. Whilst we have been unable to fully reproduce the issue, we believe that we have been able to refine the design of the part to prevent it from happening again.
So yes, we cannot always be perfect, but thank you all for standing by us while we try to get as close to that as we can.
As always, please visit our online shop for our products, and we ask you to reach out to us if you have new ideas that you would like
